Thank you to all the players and supporters who came out to be part of The Tennis Town Johnson Ranch Round-up. The Tournament featured over 350 players from all over and had levels starting from 2.5 all the way up to the open division. The Open Division this year had $5,000 in prize money. Special Congratulations go out to Tennis.
Tennis Town joined up with Athleta to put on a fashion show at Gold River Racquet Club. The event took place during the FSP Gold River Women’s Challenger and was part of the Women’s Pro-Am Day. We showcased many of the new styles from Nike, Adidas, Lija, and more. I would like to thanks all of the members who showed.
Tennis Town had the honor of being a sponsor as well as the official Stringer for the 2014 FSP Gold River $50,000 Women’s Challenger. Over 5000 people from the surrounding tennis community showed up for the event to create a great atmosphere for the players. Apart from racquet stringing we also set up a Tennis Town Booth with a mix.
The Bennys, with frontman and local teaching pro Booby Martinez, will be performing Saturday May 17th at Gold River Racquet Club from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Gold River members may bring a non-member guest to the show. The cost is $10 and there will be food and wine available from the Hard Court Cafe for purchase. For all the parents, child.
Collin Altamirano has had a pretty amazing last couple of months. He got his first ATP Point in doubles, won 2 back to back men’s open titles, and now has just won the 2013 USTA Boy’s National Championships. Collin, rather than playing lots of junior tournaments, has spent the last couple of years traveling and playing in Men’s Futures events.
Local Tennis standout, Sam Riffice, Competed this last week at the World Junior Tennis Finals in the Czech Republic. As a member of the USA Junior Davis Cup team, Sam (pictured above on the right) at age 14, has now qualified for the Davis Cup Finals in September by placing 2nd with his fellow teammates. Jenson Brooksby claimed his first Champions Gold Ball in winning the USTA Boy’s 12′s Nationals this past weekend in Little Rock, Arkansas. He won all his matches without dropping a set including the final over the #4 seed Thomas Yu with a score of 6-3, 6-1.
